Review by: Jody Gore

““Kindness had nothing to do with it. You have skills and training I need

just now, and I intend to use you shamelessly, and expose you to greater

danger.”

“Stand in line, Lady Consort,” Helen replied. “Danger-filled usury seems

to be a holiday pastime in this city.”

The Consort stopped pretending to do her needlework. “I could have

you whipped for such insolence, girl.”

“Before or after you use me.””

In the book, The Vision, by C.L. Talmadge, Helen, a half-breed is loyal, honest and extremely independent. In addition, she is the best medical personal within both her homelands; a talent that serves others well. Still a half-breed must not marry royalty and according to some laws, should have never been born. Born she is and her powers of energy and medical know-how are strong. She is mentally stronger than a normal person from either of her lands. Some fear her power…as well they should.

C.L. writes a story that weaves politics, spiritualism, love and the possible destruction of the Toltecs and the Turanians while keeping in place the story of one woman, Helen; known eventually to people as, Thunderhand.

C.L. is an awesome creator of other worlds. These worlds hold a familiarity to our world, but she has a keen ability to weave mysticism into her writing. Emotional tension in her writing is real, strong, and keeps the story moving to a powerful end.

The Vision, by C.L. Talmadge is the first in a series of four books in the Green Stone of Healing Series. I will be reading more of C.L. Talmadge’s work.
